Me circa 1978
Hello dear visitor!
A little about me….I believe we are all born creative, that we have to fight to keep our own particular brand of magic alive and well as we grow up and are perhaps conditioned to think otherwise. My own path has been pretty varied and exploratory as I’ve always been multi-passionate and had a hard time choosing a limited focus! My enthusiasm for ocean exploration and conservation, stage acting, and singing have led to some pretty incredible (and disparate?!) life experiences but, as I look for the through-line, for as long as I can remember I’ve always been making things. I’ve hardly ever felt bored or like I have too much time on my hands; quite the contrary! My desk is full of unfinished projects and sparks of curiosity.
I’m a self-taught artist and illustrator, drawing inspiration from nature, fairy tales, and everyday wonder. I am energized by vibrant colors and love to play in all kinds of mediums, especially chalk pastel. I create out of a gorgeous, shared studio space in Berkeley, California, usually in the early morning and while our kids are at school. Originally from Connecticut, I grew up with the woods as my backyard, and delighted in exploring the forests and shorelines of the East Coast. Nowadays, much is still the same, as I gather the most inspiration from family hikes in the redwoods, among the eucalyptus trees, and during trips to wild and windblown Pacific beaches. I’m so happy to share my art with you; thank you for visiting!
I’d love to stay in touch with you. If you’d like to receive a monthly(ish!) update from me about new work and inspirations, please add yourself to my mailing list. Thank you!
